First buyer moves into new phase at Pelham Waterside

A 24-year-old first-time buyer has become the first resident to move into the second phase of the sought-after Pelham Waterside development, and says the city’s newest river crossing played a major part in her decision.

Rebekah Johnson, a project accountant at Siemens, has taken ownership of a three-bedroom end terrace at Pelham Waterside NG2 – a stylish new riverside community on the banks of the River Trent. Rebekah, who relocated from Rothley, Leicestershire, to be closer to family in Nottingham, said the new pedestrian and cycle bridge under construction nearby was a “huge draw.”

“I love West Bridgford and being close to the City Ground,” she said. “With the new bridge under construction, it’s going to be the perfect location.”

Pelham Waterside, situated in Nottingham’s NG2 Waterside Regeneration Zone, is now in its second phase of development. It includes 12 houses and 22 one- and two-bedroom apartments, designed specifically for the site with modern architecture, generous room sizes, and some homes boasting river views.

Rebekah admitted she hadn’t initially considered buying a new-build,  but changed her mind the moment she saw the homes at Pelham Waterside.

“I had preconceived ideas about new-build homes, but as soon as I saw these, I knew it was for me,” she said. “The design is really different, and when I viewed it, the sun was streaming through the big windows, I just knew it was right.”

She added: “Compared to other properties I had viewed, I’ve got so much space, plenty of storage, and two parking spaces, plus a partial river view.”

Rebekah was able to fund her deposit with inheritance money and secured a mortgage with the help of financial advice arranged through the development team and selling agents William H Brown.

“The buying process was easy and stress-free,” she said. “Being a first-time buyer with no chain made the journey straightforward, and I was able to choose elements like carpets and flooring. I would definitely buy a Pelham Home again.”

Emma Matthews, new homes sales and marketing executive at William H Brown, said: “Some 75 per cent of homes in phase two have already sold. Buyers love the spacious designs and riverside setting. Rebekah is the first to complete her sale in this phase, and we’re so pleased she’s thrilled with her new home.”

Anna Campbell, head of sales at Pelham Homes, added: “Pelham Waterside offers a unique blend of tranquil riverside living and city convenience. It’s fantastic to welcome Rebekah as our first buyer in phase two, and with the new bridge soon linking the development directly to Lady Bay and West Bridgford, this location is only getting better.”

Prices for houses range from £325,000 to £435,000, with apartments from £260,000. All homes include parking, flooring, and white goods, with some offering river views.
